On Saturday 28th May the Red Kite Fostering family held a street party to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee. Thank you to all our foster families who attended and we hope you had a lovely time!
Before the event, we invited the children to participate in some competitions for the day. We saw some wonderful and royal fancy dress, imaginative portraits of the Queen and some beautifully decorated bunting!
The weather started out a bit dreary but soon brightened up - perfect for games of football and rounders. As everyone settled in, the children played sports and games whilst the adults chatted with each other over tea and coffee. This was then followed by an afternoon tea themed lunch - sandwiches, cakes, crisps, jelly and other nibbles that went down nicely.
Later in the afternoon, the children decorated some plant pots which included some more lovely portraits of the Queen and lots of bright Jubilee-themed colours. The children were then able to take these home with some soil and seeds to plant red, white and blue flowers to not only commemorate the weekend but to help our pollinators.
Finally, we announced the winners of our competitions and said goodbye to everyone. It was a great occasion to get outdoors and get our fostering community together - and we look forward to the next Red Kite Fostering get together!
